Alex Peterson
Founder & CEO
Alex Peterson is the founder of Minnesota Drone Spray, where he delivers precision aerial application services for growers using advanced agricultural spray drones.
A Minnesota native, Peterson built his company to solve real field bottlenecks for large-acreage operations — providing accurate, repeatable coverage when timing is tight and ground equipment is limited by crop height, wet soil, sensitive terrain, or access challenges. His approach emphasizes reliable execution, scalable workflows, and clean documentation, positioning drones as a practical tool that complements existing ground and manned-air programs.
Peterson's path into agricultural aviation is uncommon but directly relevant to performance in the field. After a decades-long career in extreme sports — including rock climbing, kite skiing, paragliding, and wingsuit jumping — he developed the calm, low-altitude flight discipline and safety mindset required for precision drone spraying. He later worked professionally in California's cannabis industry, building experience with hydroponic production systems and automated growing methods, where consistency, application rates, and repeatable process control were non-negotiable. That foundation in automation and controlled application translated naturally into modern drone-based crop care.
Today, Peterson applies that blend of aviation skill, automation know-how, and grower-first practicality to row crops and specialty applications across Minnesota. His focus is helping producers protect yield and timing through fast, accurate treatments without rutting, compaction, or crop damage — especially for targeted passes, rescue treatments, edge work, and hard-to-reach blocks. Outside the growing season, he co-owns a paragliding school, flies tandem as a certified instructor, and runs an ice-boating business in winter. His work sits at the intersection of traditional farming needs and next-generation aerial technology, helping drive drone spraying from novelty to dependable everyday farm tool.
